Set on the edge of a traditional French village which nestles in a lush valley of the
Périgord Blanc in the Dordogne.
Near to Riberac and with Bergerac, Angouleme and Limoges airports close at hand.
La Tannerie offers a tranquil and relaxing haven for you to unwind
yet gives you easy access to explore the surrounding countryside and
its places of interest.
Take your time
and enjoy one of the most exciting gastronomic areas of France.
The tastefully decorated
'very large' lounge area (80 m2
) has a mixture of designs. A leather suite and slate coffee table offers
modern
comfort in the TV area, which has Satellite television, a DVD and Video player.
Whilst
another area, with antique furniture, provides a more traditional place to
listen to music on the CD player provided for your entertainment.
There is are two large wood burning stoves for colder evenings.
From the beamed living room you can step out into the lawned garden which has
palms, pine parasol, a large hazelnut tree, shrubs and flowers and the private
pool area.
The
pool complies with French Regulations and has had a pool alarm fitted.
Doors on the other side of the lounge lead onto a fully
secure decked terrace over the mill stream,
which has
trout in season, here you can sit looking over the
surrounding meadow and trees.
Just imagine yourself sitting on a warm summers evening
sampling the local specialities and wines.
SPORTS FACILITIES
The Grange games room has an American 'bumper pool' table, electronic
dart board and children's
toys and games also there are 12 bikes in various sizes. Whilst under the open
barn area you have
table tennis, pool, darts and table football.
Badminton and boules (provided) can be played on the lawn at the side of the pool or in the meadow.
The large, newly refurbished, open plan first floor kitchen/dining area, with its own wood burning
stove,
is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave,
new air-vented fridge/freezer, coffee machine,
a new five burner double
size gas oven and lots of other personal touches to help you enjoy your stay.

We will leave you with all the usual
kitchen essentials - including cook books and in the courtyard a pot of fresh herbs to pick.
A
‘Welcome Pack’ awaits your arrival so that you don't have to rush to the local
shops.
The large laundry room is equipped with a washing machine, iron,
ironing board and drying area.
There
are six tastefully decorated bedrooms (one with a large en-suite
shower room) all have linen in soft
There is also another double bedroom with a French style bed and a bunk (and/or twin)
As well as the en-suite shower room there is also a
large family size
Your own floodlit private pool
(8m x 4m) is set in the lawned garden,
We only ask that you bring
your own 'waterproof' sun cream - pool
towels are provided.
Laze in the sun with only the sound of birds and the millstream to disturb you.
A two large barbeques have been built under the shade of the trees for ‘al fresco’
dining A wooden garden swing under the shade of the
hazelnut tree.

The village of St Germain du Salembre is just a few minutes walk away and
there you will find the post office, boulangerie (where they still cook in a
wood burning oven) and an epecerie store, the local bar/tabac
which serves meals on a lunchtime. The millhouse is ideally situated for exploring many of the local
attractions. The Périgord Blanc’s many beautiful towns and villages - Brantôme, Bergerac, Auberterre, Périgueux etc. Its history, wines and
gastronomic specialities are all close at hand.
From the first floor kitchen you can step out onto the covered balcony area,
which has a wooden table and chairs, a cane settee and also the added feature of a
chandelier with candles,
making it an ideal
outside breakfast area.
There is also a children's
picnic bench on the patio below.

About the Village and surrounding areas


During Peak Season only the whole of La Tannerie is offered
but during Early - Mid-Season small groups can have the added option of
renting only part of the big house

wood burning stove, first floor balcony/outside eating area with pool view
and steps down to the barbeque area and pool , one or two bedrooms, shower

Périgueux - historic town with a magnificent cathedral - capital city of the Dordogne on the River L'Isle - and don't miss close by the largest shopping area in the region at Trelissac/Boulazac.
Ribérac - for the Friday morning open-air market - the largest in the area. Supermarkets and excellent restaurants and local bars.
Village Bournat - re-creation of a Dordogne village 100 years ago - with local craftsmen and a funfair.
Wine estates - to sample the local specialities - St Emillion also Monbazillac, Pécharmant, Bergerac, Bordeaux etc.
Local towns and villages - for example - Aubeterre sur Dronne - pretty village in the hills, St Astier's - restaurants, street markets and outside concerts, Montpon.
Canoeing - at Neuvic, St Astier and Riberac.
Sunday Vide Greniers - (car boot sales) in one of the local villages.

Directions to LA TANNERIE
Approaching from St Astier - D41
Approach the village down a winding hill, on entering St Germain du Salembre
cross a small bridge. Immediately after the bridge turn right down a small
lane (before you reach the football field). La Tannerie is situated on the
right hand side, next to the stream, through the wooden gates, into a gravel
courtyard.
Approaching from Neuvic - D44
Arriving into the village take a right turn - small green La Tannerie sign
on corner (former grocery store on the opposite corner and before the
village square and church). Follow the road down past the small boulangerie
on your left (approx 100m) - taking a right turn when the road forks. Take
the first left turn down a small lane immediately after the village football
field. La Tannerie is situated on the right hand side, next to the stream.
Approaching from Riberac - D44
Approach the village of St Germain du Salembre down a winding hill, the
road through the village. Just after the square and church and take an
immediate left. Follow the road down past the boulangerie on your left
(approx 100m) and take the right fork in the road. Turn first left after the
football field. La Tannerie is situated on the right hand side next to the
stream.
Approaching from Chanterac - D104
On entering the village there is a small sign post for ‘La Tannerie’ take
this left turn. Follow the lane down a gentle hill for approx 250m and La
Tannerie is situated on your left hand side you will see the swimming pool
and garden and the barns as you approach the main gates to the courtyard.

(Remember - we drive on the right and IF YOU GET LOST follow signs - AUTRE DIRECTION in Bergerac)
Leaving Bergerac ‘Roumaniere’ Airport - on airport support road to T junction - turn RIGHT
Follow road to roundabout
At roundabout - straight across direction BERGERAC (passing Bricomarche on your
left and the Garden Centre on your right)
At roundabout - turn right
Follow road - over River
At next roundabout - straight over
Note - Champion Supermarket on your right - and Total Garage on your left
Pass through the first traffic lights
Follow main road until you have a wall on your right and traffic lights
Left at wall of school - direction Mussidan and Montpon - signed 'gendarmerie
national'
Follow road through outskirts of town
Leave Bergerac - flats on right/left of road
Main road to Les Lêches but you will now
go on the new road which by-passes Les Lêches
At roundabout - straight on - (passing near entrance to Peage) still direction - Mussidan
At T junction in Mussidan - turn right onto main street (you will have closed
Sports shop in front of you) - follow road to River
Straight across the River at traffic lights
Signed Riberac D709 -direction - St Front de Pradoux village
At roundabout in St Front de Pradoux - take second right - turn to Neuvic
(by Vival Supermarket - Boulangerie facing you - road straight on will be to Riberac)
Follow road to Neuvic Gare along the side of the River (railway line above on your left)
At Neuvic Gare - take first left turning to St Germain du Salembre - D44 - Ford garage on your right and Neuvic station old building
(second left straight after also lead to St Germain - green and gold La Tannerie sign on this on)
Follow road to St Germain de Salembre village
Before Post Office and village square you - turn right - direction St Astier D41
Follow GREEN AND GOLD signs for LA TANNERIE Chambres d’Hotes
At football pitch turn left (before bridge over Salembre) onto small lane which leads to La Tannerie - facing you
